Shorty has served on NVEC's Board of Trustees since 1990. He currently serves as the senior member of the board. During Shorty's more than 35 years in Nespelem, he has served as mayor, public works director, school board member and as head of the fire department. He was part of the effort to keep retail businesses open in Nespelem and the campaign to build the community a new school. Shorty met and married his sweetheart Kathy more than 40 years ago. Although retired, Shorty says he enjoys his current job of driving four dozen kids to and from school.
